— added new types of drones, gunships (police cutters), CR drone defence platforms, CR heavy weapon platforms, DN siege defence platforms, doomstars, cruiser police carriers that carry police cutters in to battle (as fighters).

— over 100 weapons in total. New energy, ballistic, torpedo and missile weapons. Projectors now can mount either a specialized projector weapon, a single heavy beam weapon, a 2-barrelled direct torpedo launcher or a 3-barrelled large weapon.

— new techtree consisting of 19 different tech–branches. Increased research costs to allow for longer usage of low–level techs. Weapon techs are divided into several groups with availability subject to race.

— new effects for race–dependant explosions, missile trails and drives. Death explosions now deal area damage.

— new way of planetary assaults using specialized bomber sections, dropships and 5 new siege weapons. Reduced damage to planetary population (almost 1000 times) of basic weapons. Removed planet missiles to compensate this reduction in damage.

This mod aims to go further than my Weapons' Liberation Mod (that aimed to stay the closest to vanilla SotS as possible) and actually changes things like tech costs, simplifying trade, and (indirectly) making light emitters less powerful in the early game.

1 freighter needed per trade lane. Freighters now cost 30000 and 50000 in construction cost.

BSOTS (B*stard Sword of the Stars) is a mod I've been working on since Kerberos released AMOC, the third expansion for SOTS.

BSOTS alters some rules, provides a new tech tree, adds many new weapons systems, and alters the flow of the game - moving some of the expansion features Kerberos added in AMOC or other expansions to be more integrated with the flow of a game - such as building stations and establishing trade routes.

The overall goals for BSOTS are:

  • More Weapons, Ships, Options, Technologies.
  • Expanded game story-arc, with an emphasis on exploring the tactics and strategies available in each technological age: Fission, Fusion, and Antimatter.
  • A focus on being more of a galactic space opera with a more epic feel to battles, and greater investment in ships and worlds so that developing and defending them is more substantial.
  • i.e. ship's aren't cheap throw-aways ready to build in the dozens without any lead time, and worlds aren't fragile nor easily glassed nothings to be ignored.

NOTE: Dramatically increased ship maintenance costs.

Description: Total conversion of weapons and effects.

32 new weapons: the Kludgy Cannon, Bevy Pack missiles, Helix Beams, Lighting Field Generator, Ejectors and a crap load more. Tons of new weapon effects. New weapon sounds. Weapon stats vary by race, no longer are the weapons exactly the same from race to race.

Known Issues(Read, unfixable) The Hybrid Plasma Line tech tree boxes don't have a picture. Fighters collide with each other-To use fighters decently select them 1 or 2 at a time and tell them to attack, then another 1 or 2. The lightning field generator is kinda iffy at times.

Please, please, pretty please send me feedback. I am one person, and I tried my best to balance everything, to make everything look neat; but without feedback I can't improve it, and people have their own opinions. The more feedback I get the better 3.0 will be.

NOTE: While the mod will load in BoB or higher it was clearly not intended to be compatible with DLC.

Lost Souls (Phoenix) Mod[]

Description:
This MOD modifies the human faction:

  • all sections get new models, plus, new sections
  • new weapons, balance tweaks to some existing weapons
  • new names, badges and avatars
  • new music

Their regular ships are above average in every segment, but not the best at anything and are more expensive. The Battleship mission sections are no way comparable to their normal sections — they are harbringers of doom — but their size, production cost and command point requirements make them difficult to field in greater numbers.

The Phoenix faction uses a modified node drive — compared to stock human drives it has greater range, but is also slower. The upside is that they can reach decent STL speeds and their base node speed gets better with upgrades.

The Phoenix have distinct pros and cons and unique tech and sections. CONS:

  • Low Industry
  • High ship costs
  • High ship mantainance
  • less CP per CNC

PROS:

  • Excellent ships
  • specialized sections and weapons
  • great tech choices.

NOTE: Mod reduces research speed on several tech lines, especially xenotech.

actually i have some trouble with the right scaling, the Excelsior (cruiser-Class) is a bit to large in comparison to the Destroyer-class Ships. :?

Description: The mod will unlock (100% chance) all techs in the game. You still have to research them and the cost is still the same, but you will always get all techs.

To install you just download the .rar and open it in your SotS directory. Make sure you extract the entire folder (techtree) and not just the file contained in the folder.

As usual all mods are used at your own risk and neither I nor Kerberos can be held responsible for any problems arising by using this mod. The mod is however tested and should work fine on all systems. The .rar is scanned for viruses and came out clean.
